Re: Remote Host found; but files can't be seen
Same issue this morning. I reinstalled Filemaker on a different drive, and I couldn't access the remote server. Checked size of server.pem file with my parter, his was 6k, mine was 4k, so he sent me his and it's all good. One of the easiest fixes ever for a network issue :~)
Thanks!

Re: Remote Host found; but files can't be seen
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you jcfilemaker. From what I understand the problem and solution are the same for both platforms.
To find the server.pem file on a Mac, go to your:
Applications Folder
Filemaker Folder
Select and right-click the 'Filemaker Pro' application
Select 'Show Package Contents'
Open the 'Contents' folder
Open the 'MacOs' folder
In the 'MacOs' folder you will find the 'server.pem' file. Same rules apply, if the file is less than 5kb; replace it with one that is greater than 5kb from another Mac.
Hope that helps.

Re: Remote Host found; but files can't be seen
This problem is back with Filemaker Server 12, but this time replacing server.pem doesn't seem to fix it. Has anyone any ideas what else I could try? I'll be calling support tomorrow morning, so I'll let you know what happens.
Thanks,
Alec

Re: Remote Host found; but files can't be seen
I just had the same problem and I had eliminated Firewall, Ports, Router and thought it must be Bonjour. Bonjour was installed correctly but when i went to uninstall it it told me this Mem manager widget was using it and had to be close before removal. I closed it and tried viewing my databases again and it worked fine. Looks like the program was interfering with bonjours functions to display hosted files. Hope this helps

Re: Remote Host found; but files can't be seen
Hi, Is there a definitive fix on this?
My client can no longer see databases hosted on my mac in filemaker Pro adv 11.0v4 via remote access after reinstalling their Filemaker Pro 9.0v3 on a new box running Windows 7 SP1 professional (64bit)
Does Bonjour need reinstalling on their new machine, or, as I've read on another thread here, that a server.pem file might be corrupt and should be swapped with the server.pem file from their old machine?
I'm thinking of telling them they should upgrade to Filemaker Pro 12, assuming that this remote access prob doesn't occur in that version.
Any help gratefully appreciated!
thanks,
Jan

Re: Remote Host found; but files can't be seen
In addition to the 9v3 update, did you install the SSL updater? FileMaker KB 7016
Then try reinstalling Bonjour. Then try the server.pem fix.Josh Ormond ~ Moderator-Editor

Re: Remote Host found; but files can't be seen
Hi Joe,
thanks for that. Still didn't work after the SSL updater was installed, and I ended up talking to Filemaker support (UK) who emailed me a server.pem file which finally fixed the prob. Presumably we needed the SSL updater and Bonjour as well.
All good! Actually Filemaker support were incredibly cooperative; in the past they've been a bit reticent to help without a support contract, but this time swung into action immediately. Obviously it's an ongoing issue!
ta again,
jan
