How to Scroll long text block in a non-modifiable text field

I have a help file that is broken up into 1-2 page chunks, each with a topical description. A match field self-join portal shows the selected topical text in a scrollable field within a 1 row portal.

The text often exceeds the size of the available screen field real estate, so needs to be scrolled. However, to scroll, it appears to require the field to be editable - not a good thing for a help file. I need to scroll the field without being allowed to edit the content. I have not tried privilege restrictions, but if I remember rightly, I can only force the field to be locked from edit, which also means locked from scrolling?

The deployment environment is IWP, so Preview is not an option, nor is PDF.

I've thought of storing the contents in 2 discrete tables, and re-loading the user accessible table at each log in, so that any modifications are overwritten, but that seems to be a heavy handed approach that could still allow unwanted edits, at least temporarily. I could load the selected help field into a global field at selection time. That would always provide clean content, and any edits would only be seen by that user, for that session, while in that selection. Any other help selection would load new data.

That will probably be the approach, if there is not something simpler. Suggestions?

Webviewers work in IWP, correct? It might be easiest to just use that.

Figured it out - Put the text in a calc field, with a simple calc pointed at the source field. The contents are no editable, but are scrollable.
