yery urgent: web publising database to the interne

Internal we can access the database via the web publishing engine without any problems. but i dont get it to work externaly. normaly assign some IP to our website and forward the port 80 to this website via hostheader at our firewall.

but over here i have to publish this god damm string:

    http://local_IP_HERE:80/fmi/iwp/cgi?...RE&-loadframes

but i cant forward this. it should be like that, that somebody externaly enters http://www.companyweb.com/wpe or something like that ?!....

how did u manage this, to give access to your web publishing engine from the internet ?

check that you are "port forwarding"

    Also,
you may have a dynamic IP address, especially if you use dsl for your internet connection.

    Try

    http://www.dyndns.com/

it's a free sevice, and will give you an unchanging url for people to hit.

I have a question regarding dynamic IPs and IWP. I will have to host a database from my own living room for a short period of time. All went well and after a bit of screwing around, I got the databases showing in the Internet. I had set up an account at dyndns.org and my router keeps the track of it all. I can't access my IWP entry page (nor the databases) if I use whateverurl.dyndns.org:591, but if I give my true IP address+591 as a the port, everything shows just fine, slowly, but fine.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks - J. Eskola
