    If you already have a portal in place that shows the current record, you know the concept of a self-join – in this case probably as a relationship that uses a unique match field (primary key). Change your self-join relationship to use on both sides the field that defines your desired "likeness" (i.e. city=city, or state=state etc.) – that is if I understand correctly the purpose of your intended "like" ...

    In this scenario no script is required, since the relationship and its matching related records are automatically re-evaluated when you change records.
